We are in a peaceful little town called Villa de Mazarife (which is probably not on the maps for the grandkids to mark our progress). We walked about 13 km today. We took an alternate route to avoid highway walking all day and we liked our scenic way. We came upon a man named Manuel who had set up a care center where he had a bathroom, fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice, snacks and a dome structure to provide shade and chairs for relaxing. He was so kind and happy to wait on us.
Our walk today was in the open paramo. It was a quiet day and after a morning stop at a cafe we only saw two other Pilgrims all day, which is quite unusual. The three of us were pretty quiet too, I guess just concentrating on one step at a time. Although the walk was not long, nor difficult, it seemed like a harder day to me.I think we are just a bit worn out and a bit discourged by random aches and pains and creaks and that we can't walk the 20-25 km days (consistently) that we thought we would be able to do. At this rate we might be home in July!
We get up happy every morning though and we are always anxious to take on a new day. The quote in the guidebook for tomorrow says, "To dry one's eyes and laugh at a fall, and, baffled, get up and begin again." by Robert Browning. Tomorrow is another day...and we are being lulled to sleep by snoring, in the next room.
Treasure each day! Love checking your blog and seeing the amazing places you've visited.
